A WELCOME TO THE BELL INN
A traditional Cotswold inn serving authentic Indian cuisine, fine wines and a warm village welcome.
For generations, visitors have found their way to The Bell Inn while exploring the rolling hills, hidden valleys and honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds. Long before tourists arrived with guidebooks and cameras, this was a place where farmers, craftsmen, merchants and travellers gathered to share stories, news and a drink by the fire.
Records show The Bell trading in the village during the early nineteenth century, although the inn itself is believed to be older still. Through the years it has witnessed the changing fortunes of Avening, a village once enriched by the wool trade that helped shape the Cotswolds we know today. Historical records reveal that publicans, bootmakers and butchers all lived and worked here, reflecting a time when village inns sat at the very centre of rural life.
Today, while much has changed, the spirit of hospitality remains the same. Whether you're a local calling in for a glass of wine, a walker discovering the Cotswold countryside, or a visitor joining us for authentic Indian cuisine, we are delighted to welcome you.
